A Town Rooted in Tradition: Founded in 1837 and named after War of 1812 hero General Eleazar Wheelock Ripley, our town is rich in history and community spirit. Once a vital trading hub along the old Ripley Road, agriculture shaped our economy and continues to influence life here. Ripley also honors its connection to the Chickasaw Nation, whose ancestral lands include our area, and the resilience of its residents who rebuilt the town after the Civil War. Landmarks like Union Cemetery and historic homes provide glimpses into our past, while events like the Tippah County Fair celebrate our heritage today. From Main Street’s timeless architecture to stories of notable figures like William Faulkner’s family ties, Ripley weaves history into everyday life. Come experience the legacy of a town that cherishes its roots while embracing its future.
